Crude Oil Distillation Process Complete. This video describe the complete distillation process in a Refinery. Animation Description will help you to understand the things better. Each refined petroleum product obtained from crude oil Oil that has not been refined. has a specific use: Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) Combination of light hydrocarbons produced partly from the refining of crude oil (about 40%) and partly from the processing of natural gas.. , also known as butane and propane, is used as an automotive fuel or packaged in bottles and used for household purposes. Processing at the Refinery. Raw natural gas is mostly made of methane, but also contains a large number of other hydrocarbon gases. The first stage is to remove acid gases by amine or membrane treatment. This acid is usually processed into sulfur products. The same technology however that distills motor oil from crude oil is essentially the same technology that distills used oil into diesel fuel. The process to re-refine used motor oil is, according to David Layzell, a scientist for Dominion Oil Refining, easier than refining crude oil. Processing at the Refinery. Simply stated, because crude oil is made up of a mixture of hydrocarbons, the first step in the refining process is to separate the different types of hydrocarbons from the mix. This is accomplished by heating the crude oil in a process similar to that used in a “moonshine-still”.

Crude oil and natural gas are extracted from the ground, on land or under the oceans, by sinking an oil well and are then transported by pipeline and/or ship to refineries where their components are processed into refined products. This is accomplished by heating the crude oil in a process similar to that used in a “moonshine-still”. The lightest fractions, including gasoline and liquid petroleum gas (LPG), vaporize and rise to the top of the tower, where they condense back to liquids. Medium-weight liquids, including kerosene and diesel oil, stay in the middle. Heavier liquids, called gas oils, separate lower down. The natural gas has been partially refined on the offshore production platform, by the removal of water, sand and oil before being exported ashore via the subsea pipeline by the gas compressors. On arrival at the gas refinery the gas is passed through a slug catcher which removes the condensates and liquids before passing into a dehydrator which effectively gets rid of the water vapour left in the gas.

Many regions have local gas station brands that would specialize in the downstream segment of the industry. One of the best-known regional examples is the

Raw natural gas comes from three types of wells: oil wells, gas wells, and condensate wells. Natural gas that comes from oil wells is typically termed ‘associated gas’. This gas can exist separate from oil in the formation (free gas), or dissolved in the crude oil (dissolved gas).

Petroleum refining and gas processing involve the handling of hydrocarbons replace oil, coal, and natural gas, opening up a future nonfossil fuel energy era. 13 Feb 2020 Some of these streams, like liquefied petroleum gas or jet fuel derived from kerosene, can be collected and shipped directly to markets for sale. 10 Jul 2017 Refiners convert raw crude and natural gas into products of value, such as transportation fuels.
